4:00 – 5:00 AM | Hotel Pickup – Cusco
Your adventure begins with an early morning pickup from your hotel in Cusco. We travel south through the Andean valleys toward the trailhead of Vinicunca Rainbow Mountain.
Estimated driving time: 2.5–3 hours
Starting altitude: Cusco – approximately 3,400 m (11,155 ft)
7:30 – 8:00 AM | Breakfast Stop
Arrive at a local community Kusipata where you can enjoy breakfast and prepare for the high-altitude trek.
After breakfast, we continue by vehicle toward the starting point of the hike.
9:20 AM | Trailhead – Phulawasipata
We arrive at Phulawasipata, the main trailhead for Vinicunca.
Trailhead altitude: approximately 4,400 m (14,436 ft)
After a short preparation and safety briefing, we begin the hike toward Rainbow Mountain.
9:30 AM | Hike to Vinicunca Rainbow Mountain
The hike covers approximately 3.5 km (2.2 miles) one way, gradually ascending through the spectacular high-altitude landscape of the Andes.
One-way distance: 3.5 km (2.2 mi)

Reach the famous Vinicunca Rainbow Mountain, located at approximately 5,036 m (16,522 ft) above sea level.
Enjoy time to admire the naturally colored mineral formations and the dramatic scenery of the Vilcanota mountain range. Your guide will help you find the best viewpoints and explain the geology, local traditions, and significance of this remarkable Andean landscape.
Time at the viewpoint: approximately 1 hour
12:00 PM | Hike Back to Phulawasipata
Begin the descent back to the trailhead.
Distance: approximately 3.5 km (2.2 mi)
Estimated hiking time: 1.5–2 hours
The return route allows you to appreciate the landscape from a different perspective while gradually descending to lower altitude.
2:00 PM | Lunch
Return to the local community and enjoy a traditional lunch before beginning the journey back toward Cusco.

After lunch, board the transportation for the return journey to Cusco.
