    4:30 AM – Pick-Up in Cusco
Your Vinicunca Peru Tour begins at approximately 4:30 AM with pick-up from your hotel or an agreed meeting point in Cusco.
We leave early to make the most of the day and begin our journey toward the southern Andes of Cusco.
Cusco to Cusipata – Andean Journey
We travel approximately 100 km (62 miles) from Cusco toward the Cusipata Valley.
During the journey, enjoy beautiful views of the Peruvian Andes, traditional communities, agricultural valleys, llamas, alpacas, and spectacular mountain landscapes.
    Breakfast in Cusipata
We stop in Cusipata for a traditional breakfast before continuing toward the high-altitude trailhead.
This is a good opportunity to eat, hydrate, and prepare for the hike to Vinicunca Rainbow Mountain.
    Journey to Phulawasipata Trailhead
After breakfast, we continue by vehicle to Phulawasipata, where the hike begins.
The trailhead is already at approximately 4,600–4,700 meters (15,100–15,400 feet) above sea level, so the altitude is an important factor to consider before starting the hike.
    Hike to Vinicunca Rainbow Mountain
We begin the hike through the spectacular high-altitude landscapes of the Peruvian Andes.
The total hiking distance is approximately 7 km (4.3 miles) round trip.
The ascent generally takes around 1.5 to 2 hours, depending on your pace, physical condition, weather, and acclimatization.
The trail is not technically difficult, but the extreme altitude can make the hike physically demanding. We recommend walking slowly and taking regular breaks.
    Reach Vinicunca – 5,036 m / 16,522 ft
After completing the ascent, we reach the famous Vinicunca Rainbow Mountain, located at approximately 5,036 meters (16,522 feet) above sea level.
Take time to admire the colorful geological formations and panoramic views of the surrounding Andes.

Your local guide will explain the landscape, Andean traditions, and the cultural importance of the mountains in the region.
You will also have time to take photographs and enjoy this unique natural environment.
    Altitude at Rainbow Mountain
The main challenge of the Vinicunca Peru Tour is the altitude rather than the length of the hike.Cusco is located at approximately 3,400 meters (11,150 feet), while Vinicunca reaches more than 5,000 meters (16,500 feet).
For this reason, we strongly recommend spending at least 2–3 days acclimatizing in Cusco before visiting Rainbow Mountain.
If you experience severe headache, dizziness, nausea, unusual shortness of breath, confusion, or significant weakness, inform your guide immediately.
    Descent to the Trailhead
After enjoying the viewpoint, we begin our descent back to Phulawasipata.
The descent is generally easier than the ascent, but the high altitude can still be demanding. Take your time, follow your guide’s recommendations, and enjoy the spectacular scenery.
    Lunch in Cusipata
Once we return to the vehicle, we travel back toward Cusipata for a traditional lunch.
You will have time to relax, recover after the hike, and enjoy local Andean cuisine before continuing to Cusco.
Return to Cusco – Approximately 5:00 PM
After lunch, we begin our journey back to Cusco through the beautiful Andean valleys.
We expect to arrive in Cusco at approximately 5:00 PM. The exact arrival time may vary depending on road conditions, weather, traffic, and the pace of the group.
Your Vinicunca Peru Tour – Full Day ends with drop-off at your hotel or a convenient location in Cusco.
    What Makes Vinicunca Special?
Vinicunca, also known as Rainbow Mountain Peru, Mountain of Seven Colors, or Montaña de Siete Colores, is famous for its colorful mineral-rich geological formations.
