Day 1: CUSCO–MOLLEPATA-HUMANTAY
Lake Humantay Day Trip
We will pick you up from your hotel in Cusco in the morning according to your reservation. If you book a private tour we will pick up from your hotel in Cusco at 5:00 am and after the tour we will return you to your hotel in Cusco at 5:30 pm. If you book a shared tour (group) the pick up is at 4:00 to 5:00 am from the historic center of Cusco and if your hotel is not in the historic center you have to come to the main square Plaza de Armas Cusco we will meet you. After the tour we return at 5:30 pm we leave you near the Plaza de Armas of Cusco. After the pick up we will give you a brief information and we will begin the 2 hour and 30 minute trip to the town of Mollepata which is at an altitude of 2976 meters above sea level. Here we will have a semi-buffet breakfast. After breakfast we will continue by transport for 1 hour to Soraypampa, 3912 meters above sea level. This is the starting point of the trek. Here the tour guide will give us a brief briefing about the trek to Laguna Humantay. Then we will begin our hike, a little uphill for an hour and a half of pure uphill until we reach Laguna Humantay, 4200 meters above sea level. We will have enough time to explore Laguna Humantay, with its turquoise water and its charming glacial cover, the Humantay and Salkantay mountains. After exploring, we will have time in Laguna Humantay, we will return by the same road to Soraypampa. There our van will wait for us and we will return to the town of Mollepata, to the same place where we had breakfast. There we will have our semi-buffet lunch, then we will return to Cusco. We will arrive in Cusco at approximately 5:30 pm.Tour Location

Our guide was excellent. Be prepared for the hike. It’s about 4 miles and takes 1.5 hours going up and 1 hour to go down. The lunch was very good. Be aware that when you’re dropped back off after the trip, you’re dropped off in downtown Cuzco not your hotel.
